About

Shepherd Neame Bishop’s Finger is one of Britain’s most iconic strong ales, brewed in the heart of Kent by Shepherd Neame, Britain’s oldest brewer. Named after the historic road signs that guided pilgrims towards Canterbury, this award-winning Kentish ale showcases the brewery’s centuries of brewing heritage. Crafted with a blend of premium malts and traditional Kent hops, Bishop’s Finger delivers a rich, full-bodied character that has made it a favourite among ale enthusiasts for generations.

Tasting Note

Deep ruby-amber in colour with a clear appearance, Bishop’s Finger offers inviting aromas of caramel, dried fruit, toasted malt, and subtle hop spice. The palate is rich and complex, revealing layers of toffee, dark fruit, biscuit malt, and hints of orange marmalade, balanced by a firm hop bitterness and gentle warming notes. The finish is long, smooth, and satisfying, leaving lingering flavours of malt sweetness, spice, and traditional English hops.

Food Pairing

Pairs beautifully with hearty dishes such as roast beef, steak and ale pie, and slow-cooked lamb, where its rich malt character complements robust savoury flavours. It also works exceptionally well alongside mature cheddar, Stilton, and charcuterie boards, enhancing both creamy and salty elements. For dessert, enjoy it with sticky toffee pudding, rich fruit cake, or dark chocolate desserts, allowing the ale’s caramel and dried fruit notes to shine.
